Xiaomi says SU7 deliveries more than 10,000 units for 3rd straight month

Xiaomi's first electric vehicle (EV) model, the SU7, surpassed 10,000 units delivered in August, the handset maker's EV arm Xiaomi EV announced today.

As it has done for the past two months, Xiaomi EV did not release specific figures for SU7 monthly deliveries.

The SU7 has seen deliveries of more than 10,000 units for three consecutive months, Xiaomi EV said, adding that it expects it to be ahead of its full-year target of 100,000 deliveries in November.

Xiaomi officially launched the SU7 on March 28, offering three versions - Standard, Pro, and Max - at starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($30,450), RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900 respectively.

Deliveries of the Standard and Max versions of the SU7 began in April, and deliveries of the SU7 Pro began in May.

In May, Xiaomi delivered paid 8,646 SU7 series cars, the handset maker said in a June 2 Hong Kong stock exchange announcement.

After that, Xiaomi didn't mention specific monthly delivery figures, though it said in its August 21 earnings report that it delivered 27,307 units of the Xiaomi SU7 series in the second quarter.

“Our Xiaomi EV plant, which opened for double-shift production in June 2024 and underwent production line tuning and maintenance in July 2024, is continuing to expand its capacity,” the company said in its second-quarter earnings report.

Xiaomi also announced the quarterly financial performance of its EV business for the first time at that time.

In the second quarter of 2024, Xiaomi's innovative businesses, including smart EVs, generated total revenue of RMB 6.4 billion, of which RMB 6.2 billion was generated from EVs and RMB 0.2 billion from other related businesses.

In the quarter, the gross margin of the innovative business including smart EV was 15.4 percent, Xiaomi said.

Xiaomi expects to complete cumulative deliveries of 100,000 units of the Xiaomi SU7 series ahead of schedule in November, and the company will challenge a new target of 120,000 full-year deliveries by 2024, it said in its second-quarter results report.

Xiaomi EV added eight new stores in August, bringing the total to 111, covering 36 cities in China, according to data it released yesterday.

In September, Xiaomi EV plans to add 16 new stores, it said.
